This series of 12″x12″ paintings is a contemplation of ,and reaction to, Paul Simon’s 2023 music album and meditation on life, “Seven Psalms.” I have been deeply affected by this work and engaged in this painting project over the last two years to find a visual response and my own thinking about life and where I am now.

Simon presents the idea that God manifests in many surprising ways throughout the work. “God is this Earth I Ride On” reminds us that the entire planet, all of nature, is God. It should be sacred to us. In my painting, I connect the visualization of the planet with the gong from “Resonance.” Nature has been a continuing theme in all my work, especially in the way that light moves and reveals truths.
