I had the chance to work plein air today. It was incredibly clear, but also cold on this crisp December afternoon. I had begun another work (still in progress) and thought to go home, but the car would not start. I had to call AAA and wait for a bit. To make sure that the battery would stay charged, I drove around for a bit and found this gorgeous spot that I hadn’t been to before and I decided to make another painting.

So many colors in the winter light. It is a striking scene of contrasts and rich ambers and reds. The creek flowing through reflected the sky in deeper jewel tones of blue and purple. The work made me forget about the frustration of the car battery and for this moment all is right.
