This composition has been in my dreams for a few weeks, thinking about winter sunlight, and the play of yellow, blue and grey.
A different part of the lake.
A gouache and watercolor New Years painting of a lagoon in the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on New Years Day 2021. So wonderful to have the ability to be in the forest for a while, thinking about the light, the color and the possibilities for the coming year.
I had more time to go back and finish this up today. It is a gorgeous spot, in a park in Wilton Manors, FL, on the site of the original house of this Island City in the middle of Ft. Lauderdale. I had begun another work (still in progress) and thought to go home, but the car would not start. I had to call AAA and wait for a bit. To make sure that the… Continue reading Schoharie Creek December Afternoon
This plein air oil painting was sold today by the Red Dog Gallery in Winston-Salem. The two structures date from the historic Moravian settlement of Salem, North Carolina. The building on the left is an outdoor oven and on the right is the barn for the house. There is such incredible beauty in this old… Continue reading Oven and Barn, Old Salem NC
